Sparsh Special School

Presidium Senior secondary school supports Sparsh Special School and is working religiously towards integration of differently able children with the rest of the children.

On 14th Nov., 2007, the foundation stone of Sparsh Special School was laid in Rohini on the occasion of Childrens Day. This was the outcome of continuous efforts for the past 3 years with Dr. Narang who runs Sparsh Rehabilitation Institute for children (SRIC) for mentally challenged children in Rani Bagh. The first step was to donate a sum of 3.5 lakhs to SRIC which was struggling due to lack of funds and hence lack of adequate space and facilities. Besides this a monthly contribution of Rs.25,000 was extended towards the salaries of caretakers of handicapped children. Realizing that such support was not enough for the 60 children and numerous others who could not be taken in, we took the onus to adopt the school and build an exclusive school for these special children.

Sparsh Special School will be a beautiful building with the infrastructure and design done by a special architect. Every possible facility and best staff will be given to these special children.

Sudha Gupta, the principal of Presidium, explains the imperative behind Sparsh Special School, These children seek love, affection and attention. Like any other child they have the right to live with respect and dignity. However, they suffer from a sympathetic and indifferent attitude of the society. The need is to explore their abilities while managing their disabilities and thus making them self reliant and groom them to live with self esteem and respect.

The Blood Donation Camp

A record collection of 673 units of blood in one day

On 23rd of Nov., Presidium was vibrant with the colours of joy. Reason- as many as 1500 people were donating blood for the welfare of human race and as much as 750 units of blood was collected.

Realizing the dire need of blood, Presidium in association with Rotary Club of Delhi(south center) together took the initiative and joined hands for the noble cause of blood donation. A special one day blood donation camp was organized to rally the community to donate blood at Presidium in Ashok Vihar.

Mrs. Aarti Mehra, the Mayor of Delhi and Mr. Mange Ram Garg, Ex-president of BJP, Delhi and an MLA, graced the noble occasion as special guests. The entire staff of Presidium and the parents volunteered for the work.

Childrens Day with the underprivileged children

We believe that to be a leader in life, you need to be a good human being as well. The Childrens Day for the students of Presidium meant celebrating their childhood as well as bringing celebration into the life of underprivileged children. The teachers of Presidium presented a humorous skit and a dance for the students and a group of children of the maids at Presidium. They together ran races and laughed while watching the movie Ganesha, followed by a treat.

Becoming one on Republic day

It was a very special Republic Day celebration as mentally challenged children of Sparsh Special School joined Presidians in the flag hoisting ceremony and danced together on patriotic numbers.
