Parenting Tips - Education Times

1.

Don’t tell children how to do things. Tell them what to do and let them find their own way of doing it.

2.

Don’t criticize the teacher in the presence of your child. It will make him lose respect for her.

3.

The most precious inheritance we can leave for our children is not money or jewels. It is great memories of childhood.

4.

Take your child in confidence when things go wrong. A child can cope well with crisis if you mentally prepare him.

5.

Never fight with each other in front of the child. Maintain his sense of security and sort out problems in private.

6.

If you want your child to do well in school then you yourself must develop a respect for learning.

7.

Cherish every gift your child gives you. A pebble can mean the whole world to him.

8.

Your child learns the most not when you teach but when you become what you want them to be.

9.

Let your child not be afraid of making mistakes. Let him know a mistake is not a mistake as long as he learns from it.

10.

We may not be able to keep our children as ‘children’ always but we can keep the ‘child’ in them forever.

11.

Give your child the gift of positive attitude. It’ll help him see light at the end of every tunnel in life.

12.

Try listening to your child before you complain ‘Why don’t you listen to me?’.

13.

Respect your child. He may be small but has feelings like you.

14.

Teach your child about all the colours. But let him paint the canvas of his life on his own.

15.

Feel proud of your child’s achievements but don’t measure your success by his accomplishments.

16.

Encourage your child to ask questions so that he develops an inquisitive mind.

17.

Don’t give everything your child demands. He’ll neither respect your hard work nor will he value what he is getting.

18.

Ensure that bed time is a time full of warmth and love so that the child sleeps feeling happy and secure.

19.

Of all the qualities you wish to inculcate in your child, let compassion be the most important one.

20.

Don’t overprotect your child. It’ll kill his natural curiosity and mar his ability to deal with situations in life.

21.

Punish the child in a way that makes him realize his mistake, and not make him feel powerless.

22.

Contribution by children in household chores is not a burden on them, but an investment for their future.

23.

The aim of education is not only to help the child earn his livelihood but to help him live life powerfully.

24.

If you continuously focus on correcting your child’s fault, he is likely to grow up into a fault finder.
